The Public Power Corporation (PPC) had hoped that disconnecting the real property tax, known as haratsi, would lead to a reduction in its customers' outstanding debts. However, according to data released by the company, this has proven to be false.
Debts towards PPC, grew by 30 percent this year, while at the end of July, the outstanding debt amount reached the astronomical amount of 1.7 billion euros, while at the beginning of the year, the amount was close to 1.3 billion euros.
The greatest delays are observed in bills for low voltage electricity, i.e. households and small sized enterprises. Households and small sized enterprises currently owe the PPC approximately 960 million euros.
