The Legal team comprising Persephone Vernadou, Panayiotis Theodoropoulos, Panayiotis Kyriakou, and Anna Ventouratos - won first place in the World Tour of the international moot court university competition, organized by ELSA Moot Court Competition, and held at the headquarters of the World Trade Organisation in Geneva .
The competition involved 117 universities from around the world. The group from the Athens Law School, having punched its ticket in the European qualifying, went to the final stage along with 19 other universities, including Harvard, Georgetown University, Hong Kong University, University of Geneva , Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, University of Barcelona, West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences ( India ), University of International Business and Economics (China).
In the preliminary phase, the Greek group excluded the American University Washington and Rhodes University (South Africa), in the quarterfinals the University of Hong Kong, and in the semifinal the University of Amsterdam.
Last Sunday, going against the defendant - rival group from Harvard, they began the grand final in the WTO's main auditorium.
In the end, the nine member 'court' (senior executives of the WTO and renowned professors of international economic law) gave the victory to the Greek team.
