The Orthodox Church of Greece, charities and many local authorities on Sunday laid on a traditional Greek Easter feast, includng the ubiquitous roast lamb on a spit, for the homeless and those on very low incomes.
In Athens, the municipality's Foundation for the Homeless organised a festive meal for 650 people, while in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki a feast was laid on for 500 citizens in the Nea Elvetia park and the Piraeus municipality offered an Easter meal at the Homeless Shelter.
The Athens Archepiscopate's charity "Apostoli", meanwhile, will distribute 10,000 meals to 5,000 people at soup kitchens operating in churches within its limits.
