The death of Mr Mitsopoulos comes at a critical time for the future of Cyprus with both sides seeming eager to somehow find a final modus vivendi.
Tasos Mitsopoulos, 49, died at 13.30 pm after a brain aneurysm burst that engendered cardiac arrest. His family, as well as the president of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiadis,were by his side during the whole time of his ordeal. His close associates, the cabinet, friends, and members of all parties sped to the hospital.
The deceased undertook the defense ministry on 14 March 2014. Before that, he had served as transporatation minister.
Tasos Mitsopoulos was born in Larnaca on 30 May 1965. He leaves behind Katerina Vati, and a son and daughter.He studied law at Athens University and was a professional party member of DISY. He was elected to parliament ever since 2006.
