These meeting will kick off on Thursday when Samaras is to meet the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al Hamad Al Sabah.
On Monday, he will meet with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev who is paying a two-day visit to Greece. Energy issues will dominate the agenda of their talks, while two major agreements on the TAP pipeline and the National Natural Gas System Operator (DESFA) have been reached.
Next Tuesday Samaras is to travel to Portugal to address a working group meeting of the European People’s Party. He will meet with his counterpart Pedro Coelho in Lisbon. The event will also be attended by the head of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso, the candidate for European Commission president Jean Claude Juncker, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Finland’s premier Jyrki Katainen.
China’s Prime Minister Li Keqiang (photo) is expected on Thursday in Athens for a three-day official visit. Beijing has already proceeded with a series of investments in Greece and is particularly interested in new investments in transport. According to sources, the Chinese premier and Samaras will visit Crete, as there is intense interest for the new Herakleion airport in Kasteli.
