Convicted November 17 terrorist Christodoulos Xiros has escaped. “It is a personal political decision” his lawyer, Frangiskos Ragousis, stated earlier today, confirming his escape. Speaking on Skai television his lawyer said that he had no contact with his client and had no idea of his whereabouts and said that his escape is "consistent with his views".
Christodoulos Xiros failed to turn up for his daily check-in at his local police station in Halkidiki, northern Greece, while on nine-day furlough since January 1.
Police launched a manhunt for the 52-year-old musical instrument maker who is serving six consecutive life sentences plus an additional 25 years in prison for his role in six assassinations as well as other terrorist activities.
