Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and government vice-President Evangelos Venizelos agreed that the number of installments should be set between 72 and 100, for all those that have outstanding debts towards insurance funds and tax registry offices. The measures agreed also include a provision for slashing the extraordinary solidarity levy by 30 percent.
This was announced by Evangelos Venizelos and Finance Minister Gikas Hardouvelis after the end of the meeting. The meeting between the two leaders was also attended by Finance Minister.
The amendment for the so-called “red loans” of businesses is expected to be tabled in Parliament next week.
As Finance Minister stated, the amendment for settling outstanding debts towards tax registry offices and insurance funds will be tabled in Parliament “very soon and to be more specific in the next few hours” he said.
“The country is fully equipped and has a well structured plan for exiting the crisis, the Memorandum of Understanding and moving to the next phase”, stated Venizelos.
Asked about the issue of settling outstanding debts he stated that it will be very soon tabled in Parliament.
"We deserve to be optimistic, very cautious and responsible and of course there is no plan B. There has never been such a plan. It has been proven that whoever acts with regards to a plan B, is simply playing with fire”, said Venizelos
Samaras and Venizelos left issues pertaining to public administration for another meeting, sources said, adding they also did not discuss mass lay-offs or reforms of the social security system.
“We deserve to be optimistic, very cautious and responsible and of course there is no plan B. There has never been such a plan. It has been proven that whoever acts with regards to a plan B, is simply playing with fire”, said Venizelos.
Hardouvelis further stated that until December 18, ie. before the next Eurogroup meeting, the negotiations with the Troika of Greece's international lenders will have been completed. He stated that the negotiation is progressing well and that the discussion with the two leaders has been very productive.
