In an opinion poll conducted by ALCO for ‘Proto Thema’, SYRIZA comes top in voter preferences with a 26% of voters saying they would vote for the party compared to New Democracy’s 22.2%.
The neo-fascist Golden Dawn is in third position with 6.2%.
In the same poll the Greek Communist Party (KKE) received 4.4% while the once powerful PASOK languishes on 4.3%. To Potami (The River) also received 4.3%, the Independent Greeks, 3.1%, while Democratic Left only polled at 1.1%, a result that in a general election would mean that it would have no elected MPs.
Meanwhile SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras and Prime Minister and New Democracy leader Antonis Samaras are neck and neck in voter ratings of reliability according to the poll, with 33.5% rating Mr Samaras as more reliable, compared to 32.5% for Alexis Tsipras.
In a separate poll for MRB, SYRIZA led with 23.6% compared to 19.9% for New Democracy. Golden Dawn received 6.7%, while ELIA (the PASOK led umbrella group) received 4.2%. KKE and To Potami received 5.1 and 5.6% respectively, with the Democratic Left receiving only 1%.
According to the MRB poll published by Real News, Antonis Samaras maintains a slight lead in favorability ratings. 26.6% of voters said they had a favorable view of the prime minister compared to 26.2% for the opposition leader.
