“This year is a good year for tourism. Estimates are that more than 20 million tourists will arrive in Greece by plane and another 2 million by cruise ships”, stated Tourism Minister, Olga Kefalogianni at an event organized by the National Organization of Greek Tourism, EOT, for the promotion of Greece’s tourism campaign strategy for 2014-2015.

Addressing the event, Kefalogianni said that the aspiration is to make Greece a hospitality paradise. She underlined that 2013 was a year of successes for Greece, in which the tourism sector has turned the crisis into opportunity.
The new campaign of the National Organization of Greek Tourism
The new campaign, aims to target specific markets abroad with an emphasis given on internet tools and mobile phone applications to facilitate tourists' needs.
EOT general secretary Panos Livadas said that in the new year, Greece aims to increase tourism arrivals even further and that the campaign of the National Organization of Greek Tourism this year had a budget 55% lower than the budget three years ago.
Marketing strategy focused on China, Russia and Brazil
Referring to the marketing strategy to be adopted by Greece in the next tourism period, he focused on the markets of China, Russia and Brazil.
Livadas noted that the messages from China are very encouraging after the launch of a direct flight between Greece and Shanghai, while a direct flight between Athens and Beijing is being considered by tour operators in China.
Commenting on Brazil, Kefalogianni noted that a tourism promotion campaign is already underway in the city of Sao Paulo.
