The one off property tax, known as ENFIA, will be paid in six installments it was finally decided in a broad meeting chaired by the PM, with the presence of government vice president Evangelos Venizelos, finance minister Gikas Hardouvelis, and depury miniser Christos Staikouras.
The first installment is due on 30 September and the final installment on 28 February 2015.
The finance ministry is expected to proceed with correction to property prices in 4,000 areas, so that their taxable value can be calculated at a more reasonable rate. Any hopes fostered last week that there would be a discount of 25%-30% in the ENFIA payments were dashed, because of shortness of time and dubious financial results, that would spell a shortfall of 100 million euros for state coffers.
According to information available to TheTOC.gr, Cephalonia will be exempt from the ENFIA taxes because of the earthquake that damaged most property on the island.
